Scavenger Hunt Medieval themed party for kids aged 7-12 - Operation Medieval Merriment
Each team must travel throughout the royal kingdom (to 6 locations ranging from places like The Throne Room to The Globe Theater) to solve the mystery of the missing Sir Culpeper, Queen Gwendolyn's favorite knight (Queen Gwendolyn being you or another female helper).
The knight can be a person, dog, cat or even an inanimate object, that's all up to you. At each location, the teams of squires (apprentices) must complete skills challenges (like sword fighting with pool noodles or plastic swords), creative challenges (like making a family crest) and even a short scavenger hunt in exchange for a clue to Culpepper's location and identity.
Some challenges have the teams competing against each other for a winner; other challenges have the team members competing against each other.
When the final destination challenge is completed by all teams, they're given a final clue to where they'll find Culpeper. The first team to solve the mystery will win a special prize (and yes, more than one team may figure it out).
AGE RANGE: Age 7 to age 12.
NUMBER OF TEAMS: You can have any number of teams but try to limit the number of members in each team to 6 or less. It works better with smaller teams as each child has a chance to contribute his or her ideas for the next challenge. If you have more than 6 teams you'll have to start doubling up at the 6 locations. It shouldn't be a problem but it may get a bit crowded.
NOTE: You will need a minimum of 3 chaperones/helpers as some of the kids may need assistance with some of the challenges and/or some of the challenges will require an adult/teen overseer. If you can encourage the chaperones to dress up like royalty or peasants, the kids will get a kick out of seeing the adults look silly.
LENGTH OF GAME: From start to finish the game should take about 2 hours.
PRE-HUNT PREP TIME: You can put this medieval kids' game together in about 6 hours (includes shopping for supplies, reading the game documents and prepping the challenges).
OPERATION MEDIEVAL MERRIMENT INCLUDES FRIENDLY, HELPFUL SUPPORT ALONG WITH MASTER COPIES OF:
